Bailey's Wish Comes True

It started with one of those
dreaded phone calls from my brother; my niece has cancer and is in stage three.
The type of cancer is a form of Lymphoma Sarcoma. I asked my brother
what we could do and all he could say, as his voice trembled was to pray.
I could not just stand by and felt I
could help in some way. To give Bailey some sort of event that she may
look forward to, to keep her mind off of the terrible fight ahead of her.
Of course this young lady tirelessly
keeps a smile on her face and takes the chemotherapy like the greatest of
champions. This is where World Champion Outfitters
fits in.
I called a good friend Mike
Laughter, and gave him the news. I also asked if they had a candidate
for the program they had started a few years before, we discussed the situation and they had a spot
open for Bailey to hunt Mule Deer. After a discussion with her father was set
up the news was given to Bailey. She had never been afforded the opportunity to
hunt. The joy was evident in her tone and I could hear excited hoots and
hollers in the background as she was told about the opportunity.
The announcement took place in
February of 2007 and the hunt was scheduled for October 10th of 2007.
This seemed to be an eternity in this young ladies mind, although it kept
her spirits high during the hardest phases of the next few months of her
therapy. As her therapy began it was aggressive. She lost all her beautiful
hair and had to stay isolated from all friends and even family at times.
Bailey not going to school (one of her passions) and the sickness, and the
shear hardship on the family took its toll. Her parents at times found themselves
making excuses to head to the store for milk or bread just to be alone to break
down and have one of those cries and talks to get some type of relief. All the
while Bailey kept up her spirits and that pretty smile and unbelievable
attitude.
You see Bailey is 16 years old has
been such a good student she is set to have a associates degree by the
time she graduates from high school, and with all her heart and soul she keeps
it up.
The Day Had Arrived

Left to Right, Lynn(Myself) Haas
Georgette Haas (My Wonderful Wife), Mike Morgan (World Series Pitcher from
2001 Arizona Diamondbacks Teammate) Bailey Haas, Ray Crow (MDF), Jeremy Haas
(Baileys Dad), Duke Haas (Bailey's brother) and of course Tim
Kenny (Mr. Blanket as we call him because he always has you
covered). The Hunt started with a great stalk
on a great buck. Her guides were Mike Laughter and Travis. Of course the big
brute slipped on by. The next spot and stalk was incredible and all involved
should be commended, but after a couple of clear misses (Verified on Video),
it was time to check the scopes accuracy. Yes it was off and, in the exact spot
Baileys missed shots landed verified later that afternoon.
Of course Mike Morgan and the
Etcheverry family have the facilities to site a rifle in. Bailey was
feeling a bit tired and clearly needed a rest, so she headed into her
quarters. We decided to site in the rifle
while Bailey took a much needed rest. After going through a few shells we
hit paper and I finally hit the 10 ring dead center at 135 yards. That evening, gun right on the
money, we decided to let Bailey recover some and we decided to load
up the family in the suburban and enjoy the scenery, of course if a
buck Bailey wanted, and were to show itself, we were
prepared as long as Bailey felt up to it. The stories and laughter that
came out of that Suburban that evening was incredible and then....... out of
the back in his quiet tone Duke had noticed a nice buck running alongside the
Suburban and announced it. Of course with the laughter and noise I had barely heard
Dukes announcement. All of a sudden the buck runs in front of the suburban and
down into a small canyon. As the guides say GAME ON! The family had to stay out of site,
but I was lucky enough to be filming so I had a front row seat. The
buck ran down into a small ravine and into some leafless Quaking Aspen
trees. The guides Mike and Travis were incredible at getting Bailey setup, calm
and ready. When the time was right, Bailey squeezes off a round and
the hit was right on target. Game Over. I have never seen so many
tough mountain men hugging and at times even weeping, of course me included.

Many thanks to Mike Morgan
who was on hand to sign baseballs, pictures and hats, but most of all for
his kindness, generosity, and strong family values. The food and family
environment were incredible. A special thanks goes to Mike
Laughter, Travis and Hillbilly the guides for donating
their hearts and time to this project. Thanks to the Etcheverry
family for making this possible for Mike Morgan to accomplish this
hunt for Bailey and other special needs folks. You see this has been a family
ranch for decades and they are proud to play a part in making dreams like this
come true. Thanks to Kings Outdoor Camouflage for
outfitting the group and most of all World Champion Outfitters
for donating this hunt. Also if you are interested in
booking a hunt, they have spots open for some in your face Elk, and/or Mule
Deer hunts for 2008. If you are physically challenged they will do
everything in their power to see you are taken care of. And with me being
disabled myself, I am on hand to help with the physical accommodations
and will help as an adviser if needed. We at the hunters Space thank all
those involved and will continue to donate our time and what money we can raise
to help those in need. To book an affordable hunt and great

Bailey's family could also use some help, you see insurance companies feel it necessary to fight the family on every issue and even when something is taken care of they still want more.
